Description

An HSE Engineer/Officer (Piling) ensures the health, safety, and environmental compliance of deep foundation projects by managing high-risk activities like piling rig operations, heavy lifting, and excavation. They are responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments (HIRA), monitoring permits-to-work (PTW), and training personnel to prevent accidents. 

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Safety: Monitor piling rig mobilization, operation, and demobilization to ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.


• Risk Mitigation: Perform daily site inspections and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for high-risk activities such as crane operations, lifting, and drilling.


• Permit-to-Work (PTW): Manage and monitor work permits for hazardous tasks, including excavation and lifting operations.


• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, implementing corrective actions.


• Training & Induction: Conduct site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized training for site workers.


• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g., OSHAD, municipality rules) and prepare daily/weekly HSE reports.


• PPE & Equipment Check: Inspect Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and verify that piling equipment, cranes, and tools are certified and safe for use. 

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in piling, deep foundation, or heavy civil construction projects.


• Certifications: NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or OSHA certification.


• Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy machinery safety, geotechnical risks, and lifting operations.


• Skills: Effective communication, risk assessment proficiency, and ability to work under pressure.


• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant field (for Engineers). 

Typical Reporting To: Project Manager or Senior HSE Manager.
